Angels regain first place

After a brief stint at the top by the Texas Rangers, the Los Angeles Anges have regained their control of the division.

Los Angeles really hasn’t been challenged for the division crown the past few years, but Texas is giving them a run for their money.

The Angels have had to battle key injuries to both their lineup and their pitching staff but have been able to overcome them.

The team has also shown a penchant for finding crazy ways to rally back from deficits in the late innings.

Angels call up O’ Sullivan

The Los Angeles Angels have called up Sean O’ Sullivan from the minor leagues to join their starting rotation.

He was 2-0 with a 3.80 ERA in four starts with the Angels earlier this year before being demoted.

O’ Sullivan was sent down not because of poor performance but because the team wouldn’t need a fifth starter for a couple of weeks.

The pitcher has not taken to the mound since July 9, a game in which he was ejected in the fourth inning for hitting a batter who had two home runs on the night.

Angels on top of AL West at All-Star break

The Los Angeles Angels rebounded from a poor start to the season to take over first place in the American League West at the All-Star break.

The Angels have managed to overtake the surprising Texas Rangers, who look to be in it to stay.

Los Angeles has been surprisingly good against the tough teams in the A.L. East, going 17-9.

They have a winning record both at home and on the road, so they are comfortable wherever they play.

Guerrero hurt again

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Vladamir Guerrero simply cannot stay healthy and on the field this year.

Guerrero left last night’s game against the Texas Rangers in the eighth inning with a strained muscle behind his left knee.

The outfielder just recently returned to the lineup after missing more than a month with a partially torn pectoral muscle.

There is little doubt that Guerrero is beginning to break down and that the prime of his career has passed him by.

Saunders struggles against division rival

For Joe Saunders, the last thing he wants to do is be on the mound at the Ballpark at Arlington.

Saunders has a career ERA north of 11.00 and is 0-5. when pitching in the state of Texas.

Those are numbers that make you cringe and also wonder why in the world he struggles so much in that particular ballpark.

It’s obviously a hitter’s ballpark, but his numbers in that stadium are so vastly different than in any other city that you have to wonder what’s going on.

It’ll be interesting to see how Saunders fares in future starts in Texas.
