Weaver tosses shutout
Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver tossed a complete game shutout as his team rolled to a 6-0 victory over the cross-town rival San Diego Padres.
The win helped the Angels completed a three-game sweep of what were the surprisingly hot Padres, who are without Jake Peavy and were expected to be terrible this year.
It goes down as the first complete game shutout of Weaver’s young career, and it almost didn’t have the chance to happen.
Manager Mike Scioscia gave Weaver eight pitches before he went back out in the ninth inning to finish it off, but the pitcher was able to get it down with just six.
