The Los Angeles Angels have set up an award in honor of former pitcher Nick Adenhart.
Adenhard was killed in a car accident in April when a drunk driver flew through a red late and struck his vehicle.
The award will be given to the pitcher whom teammates believe was the most outstanding for that particular season.
The pitcher was killed just hours after throwing the best game of his career, which made the news all the more sobering.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver tossed a complete game shutout as his team rolled to a 6-0 victory over the cross-town rival San Diego Padres.
The win helped the Angels completed a three-game sweep of what were the surprisingly hot Padres, who are without Jake Peavy and were expected to be terrible this year.
It goes down as the first complete game shutout of Weaver’s young career, and it almost didn’t have the chance to happen.
Manager Mike Scioscia gave Weaver eight pitches before he went back out in the ninth inning to finish it off, but the pitcher was able to get it down with just six.

The Los Angeles Angels are in desperate need of some help in the middle of their lineup, something that wasn’t an issue last year.
Last season, the team had first baseman Mark Teixeria and a healthy Vladamir Guerrero in the middle of the order.
This year, Teixeira moved on to sign a big contract in the offseason and Guerrero has been battling injuries.
The Texas Rangers remain in first place in the American League West, and the Angels don’t have the firepower to catch them with their current lineup.

The Los Angeles Angels became the latest team unable to solve Detroit Tigers pitcher Edwin Jackson.
The rapidly maturing Jackson four-hit the Angels to throw a complete game in a 2-1 Tigers victory.
Jackson is now 5-1 on the season and has an ERA of just 0.76 in his previous six starts.
The right-hander threw 109 pitches and his fastball was topping out as high as 98 MPH.
